Cynthia Denise Owens Buchanan, 45, passed away at her home Saturday June 22, 2013. She was the daughter of the late David Eugene and Minda Ann Thompson Owens.
Cynthia is survived by her husband David Tracy Powell; daughters Emmalee and Tegan Butler; son Christopher Lee Owens; grandchildren Jonathan Maybin and Destynee Butler; sisters Debbie Lowe (Phillip), Kathy Lee (Ricky), and Sherry Wright (Shorty); brothers Tony Owens (Tina) and Ronnie Owens; several nieces and nephews; and the father of her children, Sam Butler, who promised to help take care of her when she needed help, and he fulfilled that promise.
The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 pm Thursday at Groce Funeral Home on Patton Ave.
A private graveside service will be held at Whitmire Cemetery in Eastatoe, NC.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the family c/o Groce Funeral Home to help with medical and funeral expenses.

Will be deeply missed. My heart and mind is still trying to process this loss,but also God gained a beautiful angel. My heart has weaken and prayers for the family,daughters,son and the two beautiful grandbabies. I love you Emmalee,Tegan and Chris.

I am so sorry to hear about your loss. If there were words to make this all go away I would, but just know that God is with each and everyone of you through this difficult and trying time. Emmalee and Teagen, I want you to know that I am very sorry for your loss. It is very hard to lose a parent. You will make it through this. It might take awhile but in time you will be able to look back and know that she is better now. You will be able to remember things about the times you shared together and it will still hurt a little but you will be able to remember them with a smile. You both and all of your families are in my thought and prayers.
