D. Arlin Watts

A native of Buncombe County, he was a son of the late Charles B. and Grace Smathers Watts. He was also preceded in death by his sons, Kenneth Watts in 1979 and Douglas Watts in 1995; brothers and sisters, Willis, Mildred and Jewel Watts.

He was a US Army veteran, a member of the VFW and Faith Tabernacle Church. Mr. Watts was a retired self employed timber cutter.

He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Alberta Austin Watts; daughters, Connie Woods and her husband Dennis, and Jewel Suttle all of Candler; son David Watts of Gloucester, VA; sister Juanita Gilbert of Hampton, VA; ten grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two step-grandchildren and three step-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Monday in the Patton Avenue Chapel of Groce Funeral Home. Revs. R.E. Conner, Don Austin and Jerry Watts will officiate with burial following in Piney Mountain United Methodist Church Cemetery.

His family will receive friends 7-8:30 Sunday at the funeral home.
