Dan Robert Rubey, 84, of 319 Sand Hill Rd., Asheville, died Friday, October 27, 2000 in a local hospital.
Born in Westmoreland County, PA, he was a son of the late Peter and Mary Teslovich Rubey. He was
preceded in death by his wife Ruth Goldsmith Rubey who died in 1996. He was a retired employee of Sears, past president of the Golden K, and a member of Calvary Baptist Church .
He is survived by a daughter, Linda R. Lane of Cashiers, NC; a son Daniel R. Rubey Jr. of New York City; a brother, Robert Rubey of California;
and a niece, Mary Ann Lance of Asheville.
Memorial services will be 2:00 p.m. Monday in the Patton Avenue Chapel of Groce Funeral Home.
Reverend Dr. Buddy Corbin will officiate. Private burial will be at a later date.
His family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Golden Kiwanis, c/o Scott Rogers, 30 Cumberland Avenue, Asheville, NC 28801.
I knew Mr Ruby from Calvary Baptist. He was a very sweet and nice man. We will miss him. Your family will be in our prayers.
