David Charles Anderson

David Charles Anderson, 87, of Fletcher, passed away on December 24, 2024.

A native of Racine, WI, David was the son of the late George and Pearl Anderson. He proudly served for three years in the US Navy, most of which was spent as a submariner on the USS Sablefish. After the Navy, David attended the Milwaukee School of Engineering in Milwaukee, WI.

Professionally, David spent the early part of his career working for CTS Corporation in Lafayette, IN, where he ultimately ascended to the role of President. In 1984, he purchased Crawford Sign Company in Asheville, which he successfully ran until his retirement in 1999.

David attended St. Barnabas Catholic Church. He was an avid fisherman, a renowned youth basketball coach, lifelong fan of the Green Bay Packers, enjoyed playing golf, watching sports and spending time with his family, especially his beloved grandkids.

He is survived by his wife, Donna Anderson; one daughter Kristin Garrett and her husband, Craig; two sons, Jeffrey Anderson and Jason Anderson; four grandchildren, Janine Anderson, Ryan Garrett, Jacob Garrett and Blake Garrett and two sisters, Phyllis Hafermann and Carrol Fibich.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated starting at 10:30 AM on Tuesday, December 31 at St. Barnabas Catholic Church and will be streamed live by the church (please click here to access the streaming site). Inurnment with military honors will be held privately at the Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery in Black Mountain.

In lieu of flowers, the family graciously asks that memorial donations be made in David’s name to ABCCM Veterans Restoration Quarters.
