David Joseph Fulks, 74, of Fairview, passed away on Tuesday, July 17, 2018, at the CarePartners Solace Center. A native of Rockwood, TN, David was a son of the late Charles and Eva Lee Brown Fulks. He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Carolyn Booth Fulks. David retired from Emmanuel Christian Seminary in 2009 following 28 years of service as the Director of Admissions for the seminary. He graduated from Emmanuel School of Religion in 1965 and received his Master’s degree from Emmanuel in 1970. He served churches in North Carolina, Georgia, Ohio, and Tennessee before returning to Emmanuel in 1982. He is remembered fondly for the encouragement he gave new Emmanuel students as they enrolled and settled into the community. He is survived by his wife, Shaun Riley Tate Fulks; sons, Paul David Fulks, Mark Fulks and wife Mindy, and Matt Fulks and wife Sonya; brothers, Charles (Jeanne), Dan (Jill) and Steven Fulks (Bonnie); grandchildren, Courtney (Sean), Taylor, Derek, Abbey, Leyna, David, great-granddaughter, Savannah; and many other family members His family will receive friends from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. at Crossroads Christian Church, 1300 Suncrest Drive, Gray, TN 37615, followed by a Celebration of David’s Life at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 22, 2018. Pastor Brian Chadwick, of Blue Ridge Christian Church, Mills River, and Pastor Joe Mullen, of Trinity Presbyterian Church, Asheville, will officiate. Inurnment will follow at Emmanuel Christian Seminary, Milligan College. In lieu of flowers, David’s family asks that memorials be made to the Blue Ridge Christian Church Children’s Wing, 147 Oren Dr., Mills River, NC 28759. Groce Funeral Home on Patton Ave. is assisting the family.
