David B. Miller, 74, of Poppas Way, Asheville, passed away on Tuesday, December 28, 2010, at his residence. A native of Buncombe Co., he was a son of the late William Carroll and Juanita Alice Hooper Miller. He was also preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Elizabeth "Monk" Miller, who died in 2008. Mr. Miller had retired as sales manager of Skyland Distribution. He loved beach trips, and fishing at the lake, but more than anything, he loved his grandchildren. He is survived by his children, David C. Miller and wife Deanna, Cheryl Miller, Terry Johnston, Connie Roberts and husband Ray, and Lonnie Miller and wife Terry, all of Asheville; brother, Col. Robert Miller and wife Mary Scott, of Fork Union, VA, and their daughter, Elizabeth; three sisters-in-law, Faye Sealey and Brenda Allen of Asheville, and Linda Wilson of Fair Play, SC; and nine grandchildren, Casey Ray Roberts, Cameron Miller, Ashley Johnston, Houston Roberts, Travis Miller, Erin Johnston, Colt Miller, Madison Miller and Walker Roberts. A funeral service for Mr. Miller will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 1, 2011, in the chapel of Groce Funeral Home on Patton Ave. with Rev. Earl Jones officiating. Burial will follow at Green Hills Cemetery. His family will receive friends from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to West Asheville Presbyterian Church, 690 Haywood Rd. Asheville, NC 28806 or to Four Seasons Hospice and Palliative Care, 1825 Asheville Highway, Hendersonville, NC 28791.
