Philip “David” Mitchell, 70, passed away Friday, September 24, 2021.

David was born in Asheville, NC to the late Cecil David Mitchell and Donella McClendon Mitchell.

David was a graduate of T.C. Roberson High School. He was a former DJ of WISE radio station, a movie buff, was involved in the Arts as well as an author.

He is survived by his three sisters, Pamela Bustin, Laura Mitchell-Harbison, and Donna Morrow and her husband. Also he is survived by two aunts; Azilee Alexander and Margaret Clark and many cousins, nieces, and nephews. He was lovingly known as “Uncle Spinach & Cheese”

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, October 14, 2021 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Lung Association, www.lung.org

  2. Donna and family, I am so sorry to hear of David’s passing. I know he will be deeply missed! You will have his memories to keep you going until you see him again. Some days will be good and some bad. The hurt never goes away, you just learn to live with it. Brad will be gone 16 years on Oct. 23. I miss him so much but I know he is in a better place. Some days I am okay but then some days I still cry. Grief is on your terms and you decide how you handle it. Love ya!

  3. Dave was such a hoot to be around. Always filled with energy to work on his latest plans. Spending time with him at the many gatherings at the Kiser’s was always a treat. On to your next adventure Mitchell!
