David Nelson Nesbitt

David Nelson Nesbitt, 97 of Fairview, NC went to be with his Lord and Savior on March 8, 2024.

David was the son of the late Roscoe and Elizabeth Wright Nesbitt of the Flat Creek community of Fairview. He was also preceded in death by seven sisters and five brothers: Katherine, Floyd, Pauline, Andy, Nanny, Mary, Sarah, Tom, Betty, Ruby, Bill and Sam; two grandsons, Mark Shane Nesbitt and Donnie Ryan Russell; and a son-in-law, Gordon Young.

David was an Army veteran of WWII. Upon returning home he worked for 25-plus years with Bost Bakery. After his retirement he pursued his love for farming and gardening.

He is survived by his loving wife of 76 years, Faye Earwood Nesbitt; their four children: David Nesbitt (Sherry) of Fairview, Glenda Nesbitt of Fairview, Kaye Young of Greer, SC, and Wanda White (Steve) of Candler; eleven grandchildren; 27 great- grandchildren; thirteen great- great grandchildren; three sisters: Louise Bishop of Flat Rock, Lettie Gentle (Duane) of Fletcher, and Barbara Banks (Dewey) of Fairview; and a number of nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held at 12:00 PM on Tuesday, March 12, 2024 at Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian with Pastor Robbie Sipes officiating. Burial will follow in Emma’s Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. Friends will be received at the funeral home one hour prior to the service, from 11 AM to 12 PM.
