David Ray Young

Mr. Young was born in Buncombe County and was a son of the late Fred A. and Eva Kilpatrick Young and was also preceded in death by a brother, Jack Young, who died in 1974. He was retired from Grove Park Inn and was a member of Cedar Hill Baptist Church, Alexander.

He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Catherine Alexander Young; two sons, David Ray Young, Jr. and his wife Marilyn of Charlotte and Danny Lynn Young and his wife Tammy of Danville, IL; two daughters, Deborah K. Delong and Becky and Bob Vansandt of Harrison, Ark.; one sister, Forrest Helen Adams and her husband Zeb of Asheville; one half-brother, Joe Lands of Athens, GA; four step-children, Shirley Warren and her husband Roy of Asheville, Ronnie Jackson and his wife Valeria of Asheville, Donna Robinson and her husband Alfred of Leicester and Dianne Worley and her husband Jack of Leicester; nine grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, five step-grandchildren and four step-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 2 pm Monday in the Patton Avenue chapel of Groce Funeral Home with the Revs. Charles Phillips and Joe Honeycutt officiating. Burial will be at Cedar Hill Baptist Church Cemetery.

His family will receive friends from 7 - 8:30 pm Sunday at the funeral home.
