David Scott Wilson, 81, of Black Mountain, died on Monday, November 24, 2014, at the NC State Veterans Home.
Born on May 13, 1933, in Brevard, David was the son of the late Lionel William and Bertha Marie Scott Wilson. He was also preceded in death by brother, William Lionel Wilson Jr., and sisters, Betty Jean Wilson Burns and Norma Irece Wilson.
David was graduate of Waynesville High School, class of '52. He retired from Tops For Shoes, where he worked for many years in the men's department. Mr. Wilson was a veteran of the U.S. Army.
He had a great love of music, especially Big Bands and jazz. He loved his family with all of his heart. He always had a smile for everyone and always spoke to people. He was truly a people person and made friends everywhere he went. David was very loved and will be greatly missed.
He is survived by his daughters, Lisa Wilson Greene and husband Harold, and Kelly Wilson Hirabayashi and husband John; grandsons, Jared Wilson Greene and wife Madeline Taylor Greene, Aaron Mikol Greene, Christian Tyler Greene, and David Murray Greene.
A memorial service for Mr. Wilson will be on Sunday, June 21, at 2:00 p.m. at Green Hills Cemetery. Military rites will be performed by the North Carolina Honor Guard.
David's family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Wounded Warriors Project, P.O. Box 758517 Topeka, Kansas 66675. David felt strongly that these men and women are our country's true heroes.
