Dayarambhai M. Patel

Fletcher ~ Dayarambhai M. Patel, proud father (Bapa) of local hotel owner, passed away on Sunday, March 2, 2003. Dayarambhai resided in the Asheville area since 1990 after migrating from Panama. He retired in 1994 and always lived a modest life. He devoted his life to his family, friends and God. He is survived by his dear wife, his beloved daughter and caring son. He was a proud grandfather to four grandchildren. A prayer service will be held Thursday at 11:00 AM in the chapel of Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian on Long Shoals Road. Dayarambhai was a diabetic for almost 25 years and spent his last days surrounded by loved ones in the CICU at Memorial Mission Hospital after suffering a massive heart attack. In his memory, a non-profit health fund is being formed in the name of "Jai Prabhu" and its sole mission will be to help people affected by diabetes. Over 6% of the population have diabetes but unfortunately, 1/3 are unaware and undiagnosed.
