Delia Felger Courtney Asheville - Delia Courtney died on Sunday, July 29, 2007, at the Deerfield Episcopal Retirement Community where she was a resident. Delia is survived by her husband Marshall Courtney and three children, Kathy Courtney and her husband, Pat Fearheiley, of Floyds Knobs, Indiana, Marc Courtney and his wife, Annabelle Barton, of Harpenden, England and Julia Courtney of Black Mountain, North Carolina and three grandsons Jeff, Ben and Pat of England and two granddaughters Anna and Robin of Indiana. Also surviving are her aunt, Genevieve McMahon of Lawrence, KS and her brother Andrew Catan of Mountain View, California. Delia spent her early years in DeGraff, Ohio, the daughter of Dorothy Lee Taylor and Charles Franklyn Felger. She spent much time with her grandparents, Pearl and Lee Taylor, also of DeGraff. Delia graduated from Margaret Hall School in Versailles, Kentucky and attended SMU. Delia was active in the Episcopal Church in each of the communities where she lived and was employed by the Metropolitan Interfaith Association in Memphis, where she was a supervisor in the MIFA Meals program. Her funeral service will be held in St. Giles Chapel at Deerfield on Thursday, August 2, 2007 at 4 PM, followed by a reception with the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to St. Giles Chapel, 1617 Hendersonville Road, Asheville, NC 28803, St. Thomas Episcopal Church, P.O. Box 591, Burnsville, NC 28714 and Care Partners Hospice Foundation, PO Box 5779, Asheville, NC 28803. Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian is assisting the family.
