Dennis William Medford, 90, of Candler, died Thursday, October 22, 2015 at Silver Bluff Village. A native of Buncombe Co., Mr. Medford was a son of the late Herman A. and Carrie Peebles Medford. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Juanita Wright Medford, in February 2015, grandson Nathan E. Blazer, sister Gladys Roberts, and brothers Willard, Richard, Pruitt, and Alex Medford. Mr. Medford served in the Army Air Force in WWII. He worked for BASF in Candler. He was a member of White Rock Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon. He liked to garden and share his vegetables with friends. Mr. Medford is survived by his son, Gregory Allen Medford; step-daughter, Phyllis Kay Blazer; grandchildren, Hudson C. Hannah and Holley Brooke Medford; great-grandchildren Nathan Coty Holbrook, Mandy Baker, and Amy Baker Trull; great-great grandchildren Isaiah Trull, Brooklyn Trull, and Addison Trull; and twenty-eight nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday at White Rock Baptist Church, with the Rev. Dr. Robert Oliver and the Rev. Richard Kinsland officiating. Interment with Military Honors will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Saturday at Groce Funeral Home, Patton Ave.
