Dessie Wood

Dessie Parham Worley Wood, of 31 Wind Shadow Circle, Leicester, where she made her home with daughter Emma Meadows, passed away January 29, 2014, at the John F. Keever Center, with her loving family surrounding her. Dessie was the last one of her family living at 91 years old. She was born March 8, 1922, to Charlie Parham and Phoebe King Parham. She was also preceded in death by her twin sister, Bessie Clemmons, in 1991, father of her children and late husband Curtis Worley, in 1985, former husband Howard Wood, six brothers, and six sisters. She is survived by three daughters, Emma Meadows, Carrie Beckett and husband Arnold, and Jeri Meadows and husband Don; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. She will be missed by all of us. She is now joining our father on those streets of gold, and he has been waiting so long for all of us. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday in the Patton Ave. chapel of Groce Funeral Home, with the Revs. Chad Edwards and Marvin Mathis officiating. Interment will follow at Mtn. View Free Will Baptist Church Cemetery. Her family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Flowers will be accepted, or memorials may be made to the John F.
