Dewey Albert Greene, 88, of Asheville, died Friday, April 4, 2014, at the Charles George VA Medical Center. A native of Luther, TN, he was a son of the late James Alfred and Mattie Lawson Greene. Mr. Greene was a Veteran of the U.S. Army. He worked as a statistical specialist for the National Air Weather Service. He was a member of Sardis Methodist Church and the Masonic Lodge #650. Mr. Greene is survived by his wife, Mary Frances Early Greene; sister Maureen Greene Hollifield; brother Ernest Greene (Sue); and several nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 6, in the Patton Ave. chapel of Groce Funeral Home, with the Rev. Tony Hooper officiating. The NC National Guard will provide Military Honors. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. At other times, the family will be at the home of Carlie and Bobbie Rogers. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice at the Charles George VA Medical Center, 1100 Tunnel Rd., Asheville, NC 28805.

    Our thoughts and prayers are with you all as you go through this sad time in the loss of Dewey. He was a wonderful, kind and loving person. He always had a smile, no matter how sick he was. I enjoyed my visits with him and Frances and will always treasure our friendships. Dewey was ‘one of a Kind’.
