Diana Buckner Barr, 68, of Candler, passed away Sunday, May 5, 2024 at the CarePartners Solace Center.

A native of Buncombe Co., Diana was a daughter of the late Opha Avery Buckner and Sarah Leonie Curtis Buckner.

Surviving is her husband, David Wendell Barr; son, Jonathan Barr and his wife, Amanda; grandchildren, Reese and Ellie Barr; and sisters, Kay Stephenson and Sandra Lunsford (Harry).

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 8 in the Patton Avenue chapel of Groce Funeral Home, with Rev. Josh DeHart officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, beginning at 10:00 a.m.

  4. I am so sorry to hear this! We were pals throughout Emma and Erwin. She was one of the sweetest girls I ever met. Always had a smile on her face and a kind word to share! So happy that she’s with her parents again!

  6. I am so very sorry to hear about Diane’s passing! I always so loved her and her sweet and kind personality. I have those sweet memories of her and being friends with her at Emma and Erwin HS. She always had such a sweet smile, and I can just see that little ponytail swinging when she walked when we were at Emma! Prayers to all the family. I know your hearts are broken.

  9. I am so sorry to hear of Diane’s passing. Last time I saw her was about 1 1/2 years ago and she looked as pretty as I remembered her growing up. We were raised in the same neighborhood and went to the same schools although I was alittle older than her. My deepest condolences to the family.

  18. Diana was our neighbor growing up my sister and I use to play in the neighborhood with Jonathan such a sweet women and I always thought she was so beautiful!! So sorry to the family
