Diaz McKinney Reep

Diaz McKinney Reep, 96, of Candler, died Wednesday, August 13, 2014. A native of Anderson, SC and lifelong resident of Buncombe Co., she was a daughter of the late L.G. and Phronie Hawkins McKinney. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Grover L. Reep, brother, R.L. McKinney, and sister, Winona Creasman. Mrs. Reep was a graduate of Haw Creek High School, where she played basketball, and also attended Blanton's Business College. She worked for Sayles Biltmore Bleachery, Life of Georgia Insurance Co., Imperial Life Insurance Co., Coble Dairy, and Kellwood Manufacturing. She is survived by a daughter, Margaret Holmes and husband Joe; a son, Gary Reep and wife Annette; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and seven great-great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday in the Patton Ave. chapel of Groce Funeral Home, with the Revs. Steve Smith and Bill Cantrell, grandson, officiating. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery. Her family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
