Donald Harold "Don" Trantham, 54 of 422 Emma's Grove Road, Fletcher, died Sunday, February 10, 2008, at his home. Mr. Trantham was born in Buncombe County and was a son of the late Harold and Margaret Wright Trantham. He was a self employed contractor and was a member of Emma's Grove Baptist Church. He loved horseback and trail riding with friends and family. He was everybody's big brother. He was known as the community horse doctor and was called "Doc". He is survived by a daughter, Ashlee Trantham of Alexander and a sister, Linda Nesbitt and her husband, John, of Fairview. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday in the chapel of Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian with the Revs. H.L. Wilson, Don House, and Charles Rogers officiating. Burial will be at Emma's Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. His family will receive friends from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Awana Club at Stoney Mountain Baptist Church, 3301 Asheville Highway, Hendersonville, NC 28791.

    Your Dad will be missed by SOOOO many people including me. I hope that you will never forget how much your Dad loved & cherished you. The mention of your name would bring such pride to his face. You truly were the sunshine in his life. I know that this has to be such a difficult time but try your hardest to rememeber all the good memories of your Dad.     Today 16th I just heard about Donnie’s home going. The few years we lived in neighborhood with him and your Dad I got to know Donie but not as much as I would have liked too. I always will rember him and the team cloging and square dancing in the youth jubliee in the Asheville auditorm.   14. I can not believe that Don is gone. I have so many wonderful memories of motorcylce rides, horseback rides, cookouts,and weekends at Lake Lure. Don was a wonderful man who loved life and lived it to the fullest.
