Donald Lee Crawford, 53, of Gatewood Rd., died Monday, July 25, 2011, at Spartanburg Regional Hospital. A native of Buncombe Co., he was a son of the late Eugene and Betty Crawford. Mr. Crawford was a Veteran of the U.S. Army. He was an avid Harley Rider, having ridden in numerous bike runs and benefits. He was a real outdoorsman, who loved hunting, camping, and golf. He loved his grandchildren, and spending time with his family. Mr. Crawford is survived by daughters Tabatha Sturgill and husband Jonathan, Elizabeth Crawford; four grandchildren, Shelby, Robert, Piper, and Jon Thomas; sisters Katherine Goforth and Penny Robinson; and a brother, Ronald Crawford. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday in the Patton Avenue chapel of Groce Funeral Home, with Pastor Mike Wilson officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. His family will receive friends from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Marine Toys for Tots Foundation, Gift Processing Administrator, 18251 Quantico Gateway Drive, Triangle, VA 22172.

  1. Our condolences to the family. I grew up with and Don and family, my mom and dad was like a second mom and dad to them. We remained friends after we became adults, and Conley and him were even in a small business together for awile. We haven’t seen much of each other but we still thought about you quite often.
