Asheville – Donald Lewis Kanupp, 80, of Concord Road, died Thursday, January 31, 2008 at the Elizabeth House in Flat Rock. A native of Buncombe County, he was the son of the late Archie H. and Carrie Melton Kanupp, Sr. and also was preceded in death by three brothers, A.H. Kanupp, Jr., Gene Kanupp and Doug Kanupp. He was a member of Trinity of Fairview, a veteran of World War II era, serving in the U.S. Army and was a retired supervisor with the U.S. Postal Service. He is survived by his wife, Helen Silver Kanupp; four sons, Jim Kanupp and his wife, Sandy of Leicester, Rick Kanupp and his wife, Vickie, of Skyland, Harold Kanupp and his wife Kathy of Walhalla, SC and Dennis Kanupp and his wife, Murphy, of Fairview. Also surviving are grandchildren, Elizabeth and Don Barnett, Lisa Kanupp and Oliver Thalen, Wendy and Brad Miller, Jason Kanupp, Joseph and Ann Kanupp, Jamey Kanupp and Lori Cox, Melanie Kanupp, Ryan Kanupp, Lindsey Kanupp, Sydney Kanupp, Trae Kanupp and Parker Kanupp; great-grandchildren, Brandon Barnett, Jacob Barnett, Wyatt Miller and Taylor Fowler and one surviving brother, Boyce Kanupp of Skyland . A funeral service will be held at 2:00 P.M. Sunday in the chapel of Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian conducted by the Rev. Dr. Steve Harris and the Rev. Judson Hall. Interment will follow in Tweed's Chapel Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Don Barnett, Brad Miller, Jason Kanupp, Joseph Kanupp, Jamey Kanupp, and Ryan Kanupp. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. Saturday at the funeral home on Long Shoals Road. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Elizabeth House, 581 South Allen Road, Flat Rock, NC 28731.

I showed it to Locke and he said the same thing. I know your Father had to be a very good Christian Man, because his son, Rick is. Please accept Mine and Locke’s Deepest Sympathy.
