Donald Wallace Wilcox, 86, of Lowry Lane, Weaverville, died Sunday, March 11, 2012. A native of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Mr. Wilcox was the son of the late Fay and Lena Wilcox. He was a Navy veteran, serving as a radar operator on the SS Cowell in the Pacific during WWII. He was a Federal Certified Auditor for General Dynamics until his retirement. He had lived in Buncombe County since 1999, and was a member of St. Eugene's Catholic Church. Mr. Wilcox was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Dorothy Wilcox, and by 3 brothers, Charles, Alexander, and Robert Wilcox. He is survived by a son, Robert D. Wilcox and wife, Mary, her brothers, Daniel, Tim, and Del Thompson; grandchildren Stephen Wilcox and wife, Virginia, and Chandler Wilcox and wife, Danielle; and great-grandchildren Nicholas, Alexis, and Xander. A memorial Mass will be celebrated by the Rev. Father Pat Cahill at 1:00 p.m. Thursday at St. Eugene's Catholic Church. Interment with military honors will be at the Western Carolina State Veteran's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Eugene's Catholic Church, 72 Culvern St., Asheville, NC 28804. Groce Funeral Home on Patton Ave. is assisting the family.

  1. My deep condolences goes out to the Wilcox family. The scripture at Rev 21:4 always helps to cheer me up and there it says that he will wipe out every tear from their eyes and death will b no more . Jehovah promises this in the coming new world a paradise where there will be no sickness, death or pain.

  2. So sorry to hear about Mr Wilcox..I am glad I got to meet him…He was a great friend to my Dad, Everette Davis. He will be truly missed.
