Fletcher- Our beloved wife and mother, Donna Carlock Dorato White, passed away peacefully at her home on Thursday, February 29, 2024, at the age of 66. She is survived by her husband Thomas White, and children Nicholas Dorato, Julie White, and Steven White (Sophia White).

Donna was born in Asheville on March 14, 1957, and remained in the Enka/Fairview area through her childhood and adult life, except for her trips to the beaches of North and South Carolina. She graduated from Enka high school in 1976, and went on to study Dental Hygiene at AB-Tech. She acquired an NC Dental Hygienist license and continued her 30+ year career under Dr. William Cave and Dr. Michael Justice. She loved to help her many patients throughout her career.

Donna was a compassionate animal lover. She instilled her compassion in all her family. She had numerous dogs, cats, birds, and rabbits. She treated all her pets with loving kindness. She loved all her horses but was especially attached to her current horse Raven. She frequently volunteered at a horse rescue organization throughout her life. She also had a love for music and singing. She was a member of the award-winning Enka High School Band for 4 years and was also a majorette. She was adept at several musical instruments and participated in numerous church choirs. She especially loved to perform in the “Singing Christmas Tree” at Arden Presbyterian Church. She was also an avid gardener and loved to plant and grow a variety of flowers, shrubs, trees, and many other plants. Over the years, she loved to gift flowers to friends and family. She had a passion for sports and loved Duke Basketball, Atlanta Braves baseball, Carolina Panthers, and would tolerate golf by her husband and children. She would attend many games over her lifetime and would avidly support her family in their sporting endeavors.

Donna suffered from a rare neurological disorder and was compassionately treated by her physical therapist and friend Olive Madarang. Throughout her last few years, she also received support from her mother-in-law Joan Kelley. The family cannot thank them, her doctors, and the
Mayo Clinic enough for their assistance in Donna’s care.

She also leaves behind her sister Kelly Hensley (Toby), Jade Osso (Alyssa and Austin Hunter), Meghan Maurer (Elliott), & Zachary Stevens (Meghan Phillips and Lucas).

She was preceded in death by her parents Paul Moody Carlock Jr. and Martha Sue Revis Carlock as well as her brother Gary Carver.

A Celebration of Life will be scheduled at a date to be determined. All friends and family are welcome. A notification will be posted on this website when the date and time is finalized. In lieu of flowers or other gifts, the family asks that donations be made in Donna’s memory to Hope for Horses (www.hopeforhorses.org).

Donna will be truly missed and always loved by her family. Romans 14:8 “If we live, we live for the Lord; and if we die, we die for the Lord. So, whether we live or die, we belong to the Lord.”
