Doris Deane Clark, 68, formerly of 37 Madeline Avenue, Asheville, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, August 6, 2003, at a local hospital.
A native of Buncombe County, she was a daughter of the late James E. and Martha Deane Bruce Clark. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Willine Gentry. She was a member of West Asheville Baptist Church.
Survivors include two aunts, Martha Spivey and her husband Bron and Mary Clark of Asheville; an uncle, Clenon Clark of Jacksonville, FL; brother-in-law, Lewis Gentry of Fuquay Varina, NC and special cousin, Mary “Lib” Langford and her husband Frank of Weaverville.
Funeral services will be 2:00 pm Friday in the Patton Avenue Chapel of Groce Funeral Home with the Revs. Dr. James Johnson and Ken Lewis officiating. Burial will follow at Green Hills Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00 pm Friday prior to the service. Memorials may be made to Lottie Moon Christmas Fund at West Asheville Baptist Church, 926 Haywood Road, Asheville, NC 28806 or Gideons International, PO Box 1007, Asheville, NC 28802.
I was so sorry to hear of the passing of dear sweet Doris. I grew up with her on Madeline Avenue and she was a constant companion of mine. I knew her to be one of the kindest and gentle souls I have ever met. I know the angels are smiling upon her.
