Doris F. Kerr

Mrs. Kerr was born in Loughton, England, and dwas a daughter of the late John Edward and Christina McPherson Hendry Firminger.  She had lived in Asheville since 1957, and was married to Cecil L. Kerr, who died in 1984.

Mrs. Kerr was a fashion designer, a volunteer with the American Red Cross, and was a member of the Humane Society of Buncombe County.  She was also a member of the Order of Eastern Star and of the Asheville Gospel Chapel.  She was a former member of Hamilton Square Baptist Church in San Francisco, CA.

She is survived by a daughter, June Kerr Collins of Asheville;  a granddaughter, Carolyn Collins Tingle and her husband A.M. Tingle, III, and granddaughters, Catherine Alexander Tingle and Christina Firminger Tingle.  She was a beloved mother and grandmother.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 pm Wednesday in the Patton Avenue chapel of Groce Funeral Home with Dr. J.L. Innes officiating.

Her family will receive friends from 7 - 8 pm Tuesday at the funeral home and request that memorials be made to the Humane Society of  Buncombe County.
