Doris Mitchell Moody, 78, went to heaven Saturday, November 19, 2005, at Flesher’s Health Care Center.
Mrs. Moody was born in Buncombe County and was a daughter of the late Lawrence Hilliard and Berch Patterson Mitchell. She was married to John “Buster” Moody, who died in 1977.
Mrs. Moody retired as Assistant Director of Nursing at St. Joseph Hospital, where she had worked for 38 years. Following her retirement she worked for a number of years with Parkway Family Physicians. She was a member of Reed Memorial Baptist Church.
Surviving are two sons, Blake Moody of Asheville and Bill Moody and his wife Sharon of Fairview; a daughter-in-law Marianne Moody of Candler; three grandchildren, Bethany Moody, Katie Moody and her fiance Joe Chambers, and John “Buster” Moody; two sisters, Virginia Arthur of Asheville and Margaret Clark and her husband James of Marshall, a brother C.D. Mitchell and his wife Sara of Fairview; a sister-in-law Betty Mitchell.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at Reed Memorial Baptist Church with the Rev. Randy Melton officiating. Burial will be at Green Hills Cemetery.
Her family will receive friends from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. Monday at Groce Funeral Home on Patton Avenue and at other times will be at the home of Bill Moody, 41 Laurel Brook Drive, Fairview, NC 28730.
The family would like to thank the staff of Flesher’s Fairview Health Care for their love and care during her final days.

Heaven got a very special angel when Doris walked through those gates. She was a wonderful person.

Blake,Billy and family,your mom was always great to Barry and I and when I was in the hospital for the first time she made sure they took good care of a scared 23 year old girl haveing her first surgery. She will be truely missed.

Doris was a very special lady and was loved by so many people. She will be greatly missed.
I am so sorry for your loss & for the loss to other lives that your Mom enriched. She was so good to me when I was a ‘new’ nurse at St.Joseph’s & became a friend as well as supervisor. I’ll always remember her sparkling eyes,beautiful smile & contagious laugh.I hope your good memories make this loss a little easier.
