Doris N. Huntsinger Hooker, of Asheville, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, February 16, 2024.
Doris was a native of Asheville, born on July 9, 1930, to the late Charlie and Agnes Huntsinger.
Her career was managing the household, raising five children and always helping with the grandchildren when they came along. She also worked at Hamrickâs for several years before retiring.
Mrs. Hooker was a lifelong member of Bent Creek Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 40 years, Thomas Conley Hooker; a grandson, Daniel Tapia; and a great-granddaughter, Brooke Leslie Hooker.
She is survived by her sons, Thomas A. Hooker (Rosemarie), Terry P. Hooker, and Timothy D. Hooker (Doris); daughters, Tamara H. Tapia (Sergio) and Treva H. Blanton (Larry); 12 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Her family will receive friends for one hour beginning at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 22, at Groce Funeral Home on Patton Ave. The funeral service will immediately follow, officiated by Pastor Allen Rash. Burial will then take place at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.
