Doris Payne Kelley, 94, of Asheville, passed away on Thursday, April 22, 2021 in Swannanoa, NC. Born in Madison County in 1927, Doris was the mother of Jean Kelley Hart, Joseph Kelley and the late Roberta Kelley Taylor.
Doris’ many talents included being a crochet master, a champion bowler, cooking up amazing homemade food, and being the best Mamaw ever to her many grandchildren. She will be remembered by her spunky, sassy personality and her ability to make everyone feel important.
Doris was predeceased by her husband Robert Kelley, her daughter Roberta Kelley Taylor, and her 9 brothers and sisters. Surviving in addition to her daughter Jeannie, son Joe and his wife Sharon, and her son-in-law Gene Taylor, are her grandchildren Samantha Sircey, Bobby Taylor, Cindy Hendrick, Geoffrey Taylor, John Kelley, Sunshine Kelley, 13 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild, and many nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will gather for a graveside service at Shepherd Memorial Park in Hendersonville on Monday, April 26 at 2 p.m.
