Doris Teague Buckner, 77, of 2871 New Leicester Highway, Leicester, wife for 57 years of Coleman H. Buckner, passed away Friday, April 7, 2006, at Memorial Mission Hospital. Mrs. Buckner, well known as “Grandma” to those who knew and loved her, was born in Madison County to the late H. Grady Teague and Nancy Cassada Teague. She was also preceded in death by a son, Coleman Richard “Rickey” Buckner, a granddaughter, Laura Lynn Buckner, and a brother, Hubert Teague. Mrs. Buckner was a member of Leicester United Methodist Church. She was a charter member of the Leicester Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary. She and her husband established Buckner’s Dairy Farm. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother, and loved flowers, gardening, cooking, the Gaither Videos, and going to town. In addition to her husband, Coleman, she is survived by two daughters, Anne Buckner Puckridge and Debra “Debbie” Buckner Patton and her husband Ronald Patton, all of Leicester; a daughter-in-law, Janice Martin Buckner (wife of deceased son, Rickey), of Leicester; six grandchildren, Christy Buckner Reeves and her husband Dwayne, Julie Buckner and her husband Mario Moreno-Martinez, Jeffrey Buckner, Jodi Patton, and Butch Patton and his wife, Amanda; a step-grandson, Jason Patton and his wife, Sandy; three great-grandchildren, Ty Reeves, Mia Moreno Buckner, and Carley Patton. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Monday in the Patton Avenue chapel of Groce Funeral Home with the Revs. Wendell Brittain, Mark Ball and Charles Phillips officiating. Burial will be in Newfound Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be her grandchildren. Honorary pallbearers will be Everett Ponder, Stan Sluder, Chris Brown, Bob Long, Dr. Virgil Thrash and Dr. Eric Kuehn. Her family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 120 Executive Park, Building One, Asheville, NC 28801, or to the Leicester Volunteer Fire Dept., PO Box 100, Leicester, NC 28748.

Today she is rejoicing with precious loved ones telling them eveything they have been missing. I know that your hearts are so heavy and that you will miss her so much.
