Doris Virginia Simpson

Doris R. Simpson, 84, died Saturday, November 26, 2016, at her home. A native of Buncombe County, she was a daughter of the late James and Madtnell Spivey Randolph. She was a member of Asheville Wesleyan Church and often attended West Asheville Baptist Church. Mrs. Simpson was an avid gardener and naturalist who enjoyed watching and feeding her backyard wildlife, squirrels, birds, and other small animals. She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Clarence K. Simpson; daughter, Susie Simpson and partner, Damaris, of Miami, FL; son, Tim Simpson and wife Sharon of Maryland; grandchildren, James, John and Jared Simpson and Miranda Shipman; and one brother, Joe Randolph and wife, Doris. A memorial service will be at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday in the Patton Avenue chapel of Groce Funeral Home with the Rev. Dr. Stan Welch officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials in the form of contributions may be made to the family to assist with expenses.
