Dorothy B. “Dot” Rice, 60, of Asheville, died Saturday, June 22, 2002, in an Asheville hospital.
Mrs. Rice was born in Buncombe County and was a
daughter of the late Harry Lee and Teli Bradley Burrell. She was married to Hugh Rice who died May 6, 2002. She was a participant in Pathways
Life After Cancer activities and the Y-Me survivors Group.
She is survived by one daughter, Rhonda Dodson of Candler; one grandson, Anthony V. Dodson of
Candler; four sisters, Mrs. Max Burns of Spartanburg, SC, Kathy Collins, Diane Harvey and Tamantha Burrell; and her lifelong friends Colleen and Coy Calhoun and their daughters
Dawn Calhoun and Kelly Mitchell.
Graveside services will be at 11:00 am Wednesday at Pisgah View Memorial Park with the Rev.
Donald N. Welborn officiating.
Her family will receive friends at the cemetery immediately following the service and request that
in lieu of flowers memorials be made to Breast Cancer Research in care of the American Cancer Society, 120 Executive Park, Building 1, Asheville, NC 28801.
