Dorothy Ballew Stanley, 84, of Asheville, died on Tuesday, August 20, 2013.
Mrs. Stanley was a native of Buncombe Co., and was a daughter of the late Henry Ballew and Elsie Aldridge. She was also preceded in death by her son, David Stanley.
Mrs. Stanley enjoyed spending her time reading and sewing.
She is survived by her daughters, Linda Bryson and husband Doyce, and Pat McKittrick and husband Larry; sons, Jimmy Stanley and wife Brenda, and Terry Stanley; six grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Stanley's family will receive friends and the celebrate her life on Friday evening beginning at 6:00 p.m. at Groce Funeral Home on Patton Ave.

Life long friends..children you grew up with, shared your secrets and your dreams..your laughter, scraped knees, climbed trees, watched baseball at McCormick field,, walked to school. As kids do, had days we didn’t get along..but we all had each other for years.Sweet memories of our parents..your Mom letting us make cookies in her kitchen, and her playing softball with us in the driveway! We have come a long way since then,but when I see your faces I still see the kids we were…I love you all. My heart aches for you all at your Moms passing. Love and Prayers, Rexena
