Dorothy Beale McGee

Mills River ~ Dorothy Beale Graham McGee (MeMaw), died Monday, October 7, 2002 in Elizabeth House. A native of Buncombe County, Mrs. McGee was the daughter of the late C.D. Beale and Lucy Felmet Beale and wife of the late Thomas Morgan Graham who died in 1958 and Leo McGee who died in 1982. Mrs. McGee was formerly employed for 18 years in accounting and collections with Taylor Instruments and was a member of Arden Presbyerian Church. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother and an avid traveler and bridge player. Survivors include three daughters, Patricia Graham Fore and her husband, Joe David of Asheville, Rebecca Graham Elliott and her husband, Douglas of Fletcher, Pamela Graham Knighten and her husband, Mike of Fletcher; one stepdaughter, Shirley McGee of Hendersonville; eight grandchildren, David, Danny and Meredith Fore, Mandy E. Marshall, Peyton and Patrick Elliott, Shelley and Craig Knighten; one great-grandson, Joshua Fore and several close nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be conducted Thursday at 3:00 PM at Acton Methodist Church Cemetery with Rev. Joe David Fore officiating. A memorial service will be conducted at 5:30 PM Thursday in the chapel of Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian on Long Shoals Road with Rev. Skip Gillikin officiating. The family will receive friends from 4:30 - 5:30 PM and immediately following the service at the funeral home.
