Dorothy Clark Matney

Dorothy Clark Matney, 95, of Asheville, died Monday, September 10, 2007 in a local nursing facility. A native of Hamilton, OH, she was the daughter of the late Bessie Clark and was raised by her maternal grandparents, the late William Henry and Sally Wheelen Clark. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Allen Matney, who passed away in 1972. Mrs. Matney was a member of the Asheville Gospel Chapel. She is survived by one daughter, Marilyn Ownbey, of Asheville; one grandson, Scott Ownbey and his wife Erin, of Davie, FL and two great-grandchildren, Trinity Ann and Jordan Scott Ownbey. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, September 13, 2007 at Green Hills Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:30-7:30 PM on Wednesday at Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made in Dorothy’s memory to Eliada Homes, Inc., 2 Compton Drive, Asheville, NC 28816.
