Dorothy Elaine Morris Bailey of Asheville, NC died on March 8, 2023.

She was a native of Asheville born on August 20, 1936 to Clyde D. and Lois Morris. She is preceded in death by her husband of many years, Bill Bailey and her brother, Clyde “Buster” Morris, Jr.

Elaine was a proud mom of four boys; Rick (Marsha), Mike (Toni), Tim and Steve Bailey. She was also the proud grandmother of nine; eight granddaughters and one grandson. She was even prouder of her twelve great-grandchildren; seven boys and five girls. She is survived by her siblings; Pete Morris and Skip Forrester. She was very proud of her family and enjoyed spending time with them.

She was a breast cancer survivor of over 30 years. She loved Carolina basketball, Atlanta Braves baseball and Alan Jackson. She enjoyed collecting anything with dolphins.

Elaine retired from Tandy Corporation.

Family will receive friends on Friday, March 10 at 1:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Groce Funeral Home on Tunnel Road with the funeral following at 2:00 pm. A graveside service will follow at Sky View Memorial Park in Swannanoa, North Carolina.

  10. Condolences to the Bailey family. Mrs. Bailey lived a long life and was blessed with many children ,grandchildren and great-grandchildren. I think the only time i ever spoke with Mrs. Bailey was at Bill’s funeral she was very nice to me. My dad and I came to the receiving of friends and i remember seeing Mr. Dalton there. I hope to see Rick and Marsha soon at a class of 74 get together. Mike, in january Coach Bower gave me a baseball signed by the 74 Rocket team. Your signature is on it.
