Dorothy Luthena Conner

Dorothy Luthena Conner, 96, of 134 Luther Rd., Candler, went to be with the Lord Thursday, March 1, 2007, at Hominy Valley Retirement Center. A Buncombe Co. native, Mrs. Conner was a daughter of the late Riley and Ora Young King. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Conner, who died in 1971; her two sisters, Ethel Morgan and Reva Stockton; her two brothers, Paul and Lane King; her granddaughter, Shannon Conner; and her son-in-law, Johnny Mason. Mrs. Conner retired as a registered nurse. She was also a member of Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church. Mrs. Conner is survived by her daughter, Sylvia Mason, of Candler; son, Gordon Conner, of Candler; and grandchildren, Randall Mason and Shawn Smith. A graveside service will be at 3:30 p.m. Sunday at Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Dennis Thurman officiating. The family will receive friends 7-8:30 p.m. Saturday at Groce Funeral home on Patton Ave. In lieu of flowers, memorials and/or donations may be made to the Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church Cemetery Fund, 2312 Smokey Park Hwy, Candler, NC 28715.
