Dorothy Payne West

A lifelong resident of Buncombe County, she was the daughter of the late B.T. and Maggie Ledford Payne and wife of the late R.S. West, who died in 1988. She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Linda Gail West and a daughter-in-law, Verna Mae West.

Mrs. West was an employee, for a number of years, for the Chrysler Corp. in Detroit, Michigan and also worked at the Oak Ridge Nuclear Research Center.

She is survived by three sons, Ronald West, Jr., and his wife Barbara, of Fairview, Bill West, and his wife Sue, of Fairview and Bob West of Asheville; four grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 2 pm Tuesday in the chapel of Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian conducted by the Rev. Todd Royal. Burial will follow in Tweeds Chapel Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 7 until 8:30 pm Monday at the funeral home on Long Shoals Road.
