Dorothy Pope Creasman

Asheville ~ Dorothy "Dot" Pope Creasman, 86, of Asheville, went to be with the lord on Wednesday, September 15, 2010. She was born in Buncombe County and was the daughter of the late Lexie Pope and Althea Carson Pope. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gene Creasman, a son, Gene Creasman, Jr. and a brother, Paul Pope. She was an active volunteer with the Baptist Resource Center and the Laurels of Summit Ridge and a member of Oteen Baptist Church. She is survived by a daughter, Carolyn Jenkins of Asheville; five grandchildren, Darlene McMahan and husband Denny, Janice Bluhm and husband Philip, Michael Jenkins, Sharon Loftin and fiancée Tim Marsingill and Renee Collins and husband Jerry; eight great-grandchildren, Evan, Krystal and husband Nathon, Danielle, Lexie, Miles, Erica, Dylan and Shannon; two great-great-grandchildren, Daniel and Haley; five step grandchildren and her dog "Little Bit". A funeral service will be held 2:00 PM Saturday at Oteen Baptist Church with the Rev. Bill Snyder officiat-ing. Burial will follow in Bethel Methodist Church Cemetery on Riceville Rd. The family will receive friends from 1:00 – 2:00 PM Saturday prior to the service at the church. Groce Funeral Home East Asheville on Tunnel Road is in charge of arrangements.
