Douglas James Israel, 48, of Avery's Creek died Thursday, March 18, 2010. Mr. Israel was a native of Asheville and was the son of the late Fred Israel and son of surviving mother Christine Riddle.
Also surviving are two sons Kyle Israel and Chad Israel, four sisters Portia Goodman, Kathy Miller, Becky Lathan, Paula Stone, two brothers-in-law, five nieces, one nephew, three great nieces, one great nephew, and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Doug was an avid fisherman and huge sports fan. He will be greatly missed. A memorial service will be held at 3:00pm Saturday March 20, 2010 at Family of Faith Fellowship church on Long Shoals Road in Arden.
In lieu of flowers, a trust fund has been set up for the children. Please send gifts to Christine Riddle, 276 River Oak Circle, Mills River, NC 28759.

There are no words to ease this pain, only God can do that. My prayers are with each and everyone of you. Doug will be missed so very much. I thank God for making us family. I just think about the reunion that is taking place in Heaven.

I was so saddened to hear about your passing. We had spoken several times over the past week. You were such a good friend and cousin. You will truly be missed.
Glad I got to meet Doug and will be praying for the boys as life will not be easy but God is Almighty and Merciful and His Hand cannot be moved and I know He will see all of you through.
