Carol Roland Bell, MD, 87, passed away Sunday, August 21, 2022.
Born September 16, 1934 in Darlington, SC, Dr. Bell was a son of the late Lyde and Ruth Parnell Bell. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Nancy McAlister Bell.
Dr. Bell was an Officer in Charge for the U.S. Public Health Service at the Border Station in Laredo, TX before transferring his residency in anesthesiology. He was a founding member of Asheville Anesthesia Associates, which he retired from in 1999.
He graduated in 1956 from Clemson University. Dr. Bell was a die-hard Clemson fan and attended all the home games until a few years ago. He graduated from MUSC in 1960, and moved to Asheville in 1966 with the VA Hospital until starting Asheville Anesthesia Associates.
Dr. Bell attended Beverly Hills Baptist Church for several years. He was a deacon and served on several committees. He leaves behind many friends. Dr. Bell loved his family more than anything. He enjoyed fishing and spending time with his grandchildren and two daughters.
Surviving are his daughters, Melissa B. Byrne (Paul) of Greenville, SC, and Laura Bell of Jefferson, WI; grandchildren, Ashlyn Byrne (Matthew), Ryan Byrne and Colin Byrne; great-grandson, Callum; and a sister, Elizabeth Player of Camden, SC.
Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 23 at the Ashelawn Gardens of Memory.

I had the pleasure of working with Dr Bell for many years. He was such a warm and dedicated doctor. His love for family and his coworkers was displayed consistently. My condolences to his family. Rest in Peace Dr. Bell you will always be remembered.

Dr. Bell…..truly a southern gentleman. I worked with him for years and had the pleasure of hearing all his stories about his family. He had an abiding love for them, deeply cared for his patients, and treated his coworkers with respect. My deepest condolences for the family as you grieve the loss of this great man.
