Dr. Robert "Bob" Eilers

Dr. Robert "Bob" Eilers, 94, passed away Sunday, June 12, 2016 at Givens Estates. Dr. Eilers was born in Tipton, Iowa to the late William Henry Eilers and Mildred Louise Burnett Eilers. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Donna Marie Eilers. Dr. Eilers was a member of St. Barnabas Catholic Church. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and the U.S. Air Force reserves and served in Korea as a Captain. He was an ardent fan of his Alma mater, University of Iowa Hawkeyes where he received his BA and DDS degrees. He also held a Master's Degree from Iowa State University in Economics. He is survived by his two sons, William Louis Eilers and John Robert Eilers, and his wife Joy Harron Eilers; two grandchildren, Jamin Asher Eilers and Jillian Blair Eilers. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Father Adrian Porras at 11:30 am on Friday, June 17, 2016 at St. Barnabas Catholic Church in Arden. The family will receive friends on Thursday, June 16, 2016 from 4:00 to 5:00 pm at Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian on Long Shoals Road in Arden. The family would like to extend their profound thanks the staff at Givens Estates for their excellent care of Bob during his time there. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Barnabas Catholic Church, 109 Crescent Hill Drive, Arden, NC 28704, or to Special Olympics, c/o Buncombe County Recreation, 205 College Street, Asheville, NC 28801.
