Dr. Thomas Dean Geiselman died at his home in Asheville, NC on June 12, 2015, from complications of Parkinson's Disease. He was 79. Born in Chicago, he grew up on the shores of Long Lake in northern Indiana. He graduated from high school in a class of twelve, served in the U.S. Army, and earned his doctorate from the University of Chicago. He was a psychologist, an educator and a mentor who touched and empowered many people throughout his life. He loved being on the water and became an avid sailor, scuba diver and fisherman. He lived in the Bay Area and in Santa Cruz for over 35 years, usually within hearing of seals, waves and foghorns. He was a loving parent, a gifted gardener, a voracious reader, a world traveler, an animal lover, a keen wit and a good friend. He is survived by his loving wife, Marilyn; his daughter Gabrielle Geiselman and grandson Grayson Geiselman, both of New Orleans. No services are planned. Tom's ashes will be scattered in some of the places that meant the most to him. In his memory, gifts may be made to the ASPCA or the Michael J. Fox Parkinson's Foundation. Groce Funeral Home in Asheville, NC is assisting the family.

  1. I am grateful that I was allowed to be friends with Tom and Marilyn. I truly will miss Tom’s sense of humor. Tom is a wonderful person to everyone he met. I’ll keep his family in my prayers.

  2. I am sorry to hear the passing of Dr.Tom. May you be comforted by God’s word in John 5:28, 29 and Acts 24:15 that there will be a resurrection to life of all our dear loved ones.
