Arden – Earl Lytle, 87, passed away on Tuesday, November 11, 2014. Earl was born July 30, 1927 and was the son of the late George and Louise Lytle and was also preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Betty Lytle. They had four children, Doug Lytle of Mills River, Gail Lytle, deceased, Ernie Lytle of Powell, Wyoming and Chuck Lytle of Arden. Also surviving are three grandchildren, Amy, Ryan and Corrie and four great grandchildren; a sister, Nancy Coward of McDonough, Georgia and two brothers, Bruce Lytle of Eugene, Oregon and Paul Lytle of Arlington, Texas. Earl graduated from Sand Hill High School and from there was drafted into the Army, honorably discharged in 1946. He worked for several car dealerships before going into partnership to have his own successful car business, Superior Auto Mart, where he worked until his retirement. Not ready to sit at the house, Earl started a successful career as a real estate agent with Century 21 and also did title work for Kings Auto Auction. Earl was an active member of Long Shoals Baptist Church, where he served as a Deacon, men's Sunday school teacher, as well as a choir member. Earl was a good man, husband, father and friend to many. He will be sorely missed by his family, friends and community. A memorial service will be held at 3:00 pm Sunday in the chapel of Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian. The family will receive friends following the service at the funeral home. Following the visitation, there will be a meal and time for more fellowship at Long Shoals Baptist Church Fellowship Hall. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Long Shoals Baptist Church.

Guestbook

  1. Earl worked at our auto auction for over 20 years. Everybody, including dealers and employees, loved Earl. He never missed a Thursday night except for once to go visit Ernie and we could always count on his title work being correct. I believe he liked to be able to still mingle with other dealers and probably would have worked longer if he hadn’t had to quit on account of Betty’s health. He was a wonderful man; we loved him and will miss him. His picture still hangs in our office. Our condolences to the family.

  2. I would like to express my most sincere condolences to the family of Earl Lytle. We have been friends for more than 50 years. I have always known Earl to be an honest and hardworking man. I will truly miss Earl and our friendship we had for so many years.May God be with the family during this time of sorrow.
