Eddie Francis Currie

Edgar Francis “Eddie” Currie, Sr., 84, of 710 Brookshire St., Asheville, died Wednesday, January 31, 2007, at the VA Medical Center. A native of Canada, he was a son of the late Frank and Ethel Margaret Milton Currie. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Lily Elvin Currie, who died in 2005, and by his brother, Milton Currie. Mr. Currie was the former owner of Monteath’s Automotive Service. He was a US Army veteran and served in WWII. He was a member of Biltmore United Methodist Church. Mr. Currie is survived by daughters, Marcia Currie Foster, and Judy Jones and husband Jack, all of Asheville, and Linda Sinanian, of Maryland; son, Ed Currie, Jr. and wife Anna, of Greensboro; sister, Ethel White, of Fletcher; 11 grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday in the Patton Avenue chapel of Groce Funeral Home with the Rev. Ashley Crowder Stanley officiating. Interment will follow at Green Hills Cemetery. His family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
