Fairview – Edgar Lee Ledford, 85, of Fairview, died Tuesday, November 29, 2011 at Fleshers Fairview Health and Retirement Center.
Edgar was a native of Yancey County and lived in Buncombe County for most of his life. He was a son of the late Walter C. and Dullie McMahan Ledford.
He was a United States Army Veteran, serving during WWII.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Alice Searcy Ledford; one daughter, Carolyn Lippard and her husband, Mike, of Fairview; one son, Kenneth Ledford and his wife, Tonya, of Fairview; one brother, Alvin Ledford of Oteen; four grandchildren, three great-grandchildren as well as several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, December 1, 2011 in the chapel of Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian. The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00 PM on Thursday at the funeral home.
Interment will be held at noon on Friday, December 2, 2011 at the Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery in Black Mountain.
