Asheville - Edith Rebecca Butler Dockens, 81, of 16 Chapel Hill Road, died Thursday, February 8, 2001 in a Asheville hospital.

Mrs. Dockens is a native and lifelong resident of Buncombe County and was a daughter of the late Lon McNee and Minneapolis Anderson Butler. She was the wife of the late John Mark Dockens, Jr. who died in 1976.

Surviving are two daughters, Gail Patricia Dockens of the home, Jacqueline McGlothlin of Diamondhead, MS; two sons, Walter Monroe Dockens, Sr. and Keith Mark Dockens both of Asheville; two sisters, Ellajay Maynor of Arden, Betty Sales of Asheville; four brothers Bill Butler, Rex Butler, Calvin Butler and Paul Butler all of Asheville; eleven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Sunday, February 11, 2001 in Mount Zion Baptist Church with the Revs. Cecil Robinson, Keith Dockens, and Jimmy Sales officiating. Interment will follow in New Salem Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Saturday from 7:00 pm until 8:30 pm at Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian. At other times the family will be at the home of Walter Dockens.
