Edith Oliver McConnell, 86, passed away Friday, August 17, 2018, at CarePartners Solace. Born in Bryson City, Mrs. McConnell was a daughter of the late Charlie McDonald Oliver and Iva Lee Cloer Oliver. She spent her working career at Enka/BASF, in nylon production and later as an office clerk. She is survived by her husband, Gordon L. McConnell, Sr.; son, Gordon L. McConnell, Jr. (Lucy), granddaughter, Alison Davis (Jacob), and great-grandchild, Tyler. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Monday in the Patton Avenue chapel of Groce Funeral Home. Private entombment will be at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. Her family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. Monday, prior to the service.

  5. Aunt Edith will always have a place in my heart. I have memories of our good times and the fun our families had we had when Gordon Jr., and I were growing up. Bob and I send our sympathy to Gordon, Gordon Jr. Lucy, Alison, Jacob, and Tyler.
