Edward Lee Morgan, 78, passed away Sunday, March 21, 2004, after a period of declining health. A native of Asheville, he was a son of the late Clyde and Ada Morgan and was also preceded in death by two brothers, Herbert and Terrel Morgan. Mr. Morgan was a US Navy veteran, a graduate of NC State University and a professional Registered Engineer. He worked for Radiation, Inc. in Melbourne, FL, helping develop the Lunar Excursion Module used in the space program. He retired from American Enka in 1982 and from Dayco Corp. in 1987. He was a member of Hominy Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Mareta Carrier Morgan; four children, Marsha Henson and her husband Terry, Steve Morgan and his wife Susan, Carol Tyndall and John Morgan and his wife Debi; and a sister, Julia Elizabeth Morgan. He enjoyed watching his five grandchildren grow; Matthew Henson, Morgan Tyndall, LeAnne Tyndall, Evan Morgan and John Michael Henson. A devoted husband, brother and daddy, he put the well-being of his family before anything else. He will be greatly missed and until we are together again, he will remain in our prayers and thoughts. Graveside services will be 11:00 am Tuesday at Green Hills Cemetery with the Reverend Doctor Joe Yelton officiating. His family will receive friends from 7:00-8:30 Monday at Groce Funeral Home on Patton Avenue. In lieu of flowers, the family request that memorials be made to Hominy Baptist Church Building Fund or to Four Seasons Hospice in Hendersonville.

Memories Timeline

Guestbook

  1. Ed’s Family, Ed was one year ahead of me in school but I remember him from Vance, Hall Fletcher, and Lee Edwards. We were the kids who grew up in the depression years and then went into the military service in WW II. We are never ready to give up our loved ones and the only comfort comes from our Faith in a Sovereign God and the expressions of care from concerned friends.
    Joe Clark

  2. I’m remembering Mr. Morgan as a true gentleman and a fine person who indeed was a caring family man. My thoughts and prayers are with Mrs. Morgan and the children and their families during this difficult time. Special thoughts to Carol…..
