Edward Thomas Hume, 74, a native of Long Island, NY and resident of Honolulu, HI, passed away on Wednesday, August 20, 2008 while traveling to his son's home in Asheville. He was the son of the late Charles Edward and Emma Seeman Hume. Edward was loved by all, especially for his sense of humor. He enjoyed his last years soaking up the Hawaiian sun and wearing aloha shirts. Edward is survived by two sons, Charlie and David Hume and a sister, Betty Lou Hochuli. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, August 26, 2008 at Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian with Pastor John Qualmann officiating. 1. Dave, Charles and Family,
We are saddened to hear of your profound loss. Our deepest condolences and heartfelt prayers are with you all during this most difficult time. We are there with you in spirit.
    With Love,

  2. Among the many things Ed taught me was how to drive a stick shift — unfortunately it was on an icy snowy day and with his old Dodge station wagon loaded with tools and materials for an installation he was sending me to in Brooklyn.

Then there were all the stories he told of his doing something ‘adventurous’ and being repeatedly caught or nearly caught by his father…

We are sorry for your loss and will miss him.

    Scott & Mary Grace Hume

  3. Edward gave me my first pearl necklace for my 6th Christmas present. How I treasured them!! I still enjoy these pearls because I am looking at them now.

Thanks Ed. What special Christmas gift for a small child. I still adore pearls and wear them often.

He was in the military so the magic of coming from so far away increased their lure to me.

I pray for Charlie, David, Betty and their families during this time.

    love, Jannie, Ed’s first cousin

  4. Charlie, David, Betty & Family,

So very sorry for your loss. I’m so thankful for the most important gifts in life I was given from Ed. Charlie & David. I think of the good times, and only wish Charlie & David had more of them with Ed. He was so very proud of both his sons.
I know Ed is now at piece with the Lord.

    Love, Mom & Gen

  5. I was saddened this morning to hear about the passing of a dear friend Eddie. I would like to send my condolences to David, Charlie, and Betty Hochuli. The one thing I will always remember about ‘Wonderful Ed’ is his sense of humor. He had such an honest approach and was never afraid to speak his mind. Whether you liked it or not. ‘Wonderful Ed’ was one of a kind and will be deeply missed.

    Sincerely,
Raymond, Son Joseph, and Daughter Brianna Gonzalez

  6. We are very sorry to hear about the devastating lost of your Father. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.
    Sincerely, Scott & Marilyn Ramsey

  7. My love and prayers go out to you during this time. Uncle Ed will live on in the hearts of all of us who loved him.

  8. Charlie and Family, I was distressed to read about your Father. Regardless of age, health, or any other circumstance we are never ready to give up our loved ones, particularly a parent. The only comfort has to come from our Faith in the Sovereignty of God and the manifested concern of caring friends. We have been thinking of you and just hope in some small way it does help to know others do care. Thanks for bringing your brother by and we just hope he will have a safe tour of duty in Iraq.

    Joe
