Edwin John Bock

Arden – Edwin J. “Ed” Bock, 82, of Crescent View Retirement Community, died Thursday, February 2, 2006, in an Asheville hospital. A native of Xonia, Wisconsin, he was the son of the late Raymond and Catherine Kirk Bock. He also was preceded in death by a brother, George Bock and a grandson, Patrick Szyman. He was a retired employee of General Motors in management and a US Navy veteran of W.W. II. He was a member of the V.F.W. and the American Legion and a member of St. Barnabas Catholic Church. He is survived by his wife, Shirley Trinka Bock; a daughter, Melissa “Missy” Cleveland and her husband Patrick of Naperville, Illinois; a son, Joseph “Joey” Bock and his partner George “Jody” Taylor of Oak Ridge, Tenn.; two grandchildren, Christina Szyman and Douglas Szyman and one sister, Gertrude Mary Asplaund of Brookfield, Wisconsin. A Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be said at 10:30 am Saturday at St. Barnabas Catholic Church with the Rev. Father Roger Arnsparger officiating. Entombment will follow at the Pisgah View Memorial Park Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the St. Barnabas Catholic Church Building Fund, 109 Crescent Hill Drive, Arden, NC 28704.
