Edwin Richard Wilson
November 14, 1921 ~ September 9, 1999
A lifelong resident of Buncombe County, he was the son of the late Ernest G. and Ethel Ayers Wilson and was preceded in death by sisters and brothers, Juanita Wilson, Mildred Maynard, Herbert Wilson and Harold Wilson. He was a former
employee of Armored Motor Services, Juanita Wilson Photo Studio, and owned and operated a local service station for 26 years. He was a veteran of the US Army serving in the Pacific Theater during WW II, a Major in the Civil Air Patrol, a member of VFW Post 891 and the American Legion. Mr. Wilson was also a member of Calvary Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Inez Tow Wilson and a daughter Barbara Jean Wilson of the home; sisters Phyllis Johnson of Brunswick, GA, Emily Metcalf of Ellenboro, NC; brothers Bill Wilson of Wilson, NC, Jack Wilson of Fletcher and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 2:00 pm Saturday in the Patton Avenue Chapel of Groce Funeral Home with the Reverend Dr. Buddy Corbin officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park with pallbearers being his nephews.
His family will receive friends 7-8:30 Friday at the funeral home and at other times will be at the residence.

I remember Ed and his family well and reserve a special place in my heart for those memories. My best wishes to each one.
